Calverley Woods lies to the west of Lodge Wood and also flanks a section of the Leeds Liverpool Canal. The wood has seen an assortment of uses over the years ranging from quarrying, spring water supply for Woodhouse Grove School, WW2 POW camp and a fireworks factory. In spite of these temporary human endeavours the vegetation carries on growing and eventually hides the scars created.
