T. Hewson, the Leeds City Engineer, constructed Monk Bridge across the Leeds Liverpool Canal. It comprises domed pressed-steel deck plates supported by a series of arched cast-iron ribs, their spandrels being decorated in the gothic manner, with the city arms on both sides.
